PRESS RELEASE
Miramar, FL – (July 21st, 2009) – Wireless Maritime
Services (WMS), the world leader in providing cellular service to
the cruise line and ferry industry, announced today that they have
signed a new contract to provide cellular at sea wireless service to
guests and crew members on two new Pullmantur ships. The contract
will allow WMS to provide service to the Pacific Dream and
Sovereign.
WMS service will allow guests and crew members from both ships to
use their cell phones while the ships are at sea. Connectivity is
activated when the ship leaves port and turned off when in range of
land-based providers. WMS provides uninterrupted service to guests
and crew so they can stay in touch with family, friends or business
associates back home. Guests and crew can make and receive calls,
send text messages and surf the internet at rates similar to roaming
internationally.
“We are excited about the possibilities that this contract will
bring to our passengers and crew members,” said Jose Ramón Gaspar,
Communications Controller for Pullmantur.
“We are very excited to have grown the depth and breadth of our
relationship with Pullmantur,” said, Jim McKenna, V.P. of Customer
Support and Product Development of WMS. “We pride ourselves on
delivering the best products and services to our customers. This
contract signing is an indication of the value we bring to cruise
line and ferry passengers and crew. We made a commitment to expand
our presence in Europe and the rest of the world, and I think this
vote of confidence from our friends at Pullmantur shows that our
European customers see that service level and commitment from us.”
