PRESS RELEASE
Miramar, FL – (July 21st, 2009) – Wireless Maritime
Services (WMS), the world leader in providing cellular service to
the cruise line and ferry industry, announced today that they have
signed a new contract with Louis Cruise Lines to provide cellular
service to guests and crew on the Aquamarine. That brings the number
of ships WMS provides service on in the Louis fleet to six.
WMS service allows guests and crew members traveling on the
Aquamarine to use their cell phones while the ships are at sea.
Connectivity is activated when the ship leaves port and is out of
range of land-based GSM connection. The connectivity is turned off
when the ship is back in range of land-based providers. WMS provides
uninterrupted service to guests and crew so they can stay in touch
with family, friends or business associates back home while they
enjoy the experiences of their cruise. Guests and crew can make and
receive calls, send text messages and surf the internet at rates
similar to roaming internationally.
“We are excited about the new contract with WMS and are looking
forward to offering the same excellent maritime GSM service onboard
to our passengers when traveling on the Aquamarine.” said Kleanthis
Hadjisoteriou, General Manager.
“We are delighted by this opportunity to further deepen our
relationship with Louis Cruise Lines,” said Leighton Carroll,
President and CEO of WMS. “Just like Louis, we pride ourselves on
delivering the best products and services to our customers. This
contract signing validates the tremendous value we bring to cruise
line and ferry passengers and crew. We made a commitment to expand
into Europe and the rest of the world and I think this agreement
with our partners at Louis Cruises shows that European cruise and
ferry operators see that service level and commitment from WMS.”
